Since 1993 the SAO is a member of EUROSAI (www.eurosai.org). EUROSAI listed as a support Organisation of the United Nations is bringing together 51 members and the European Court of Auditors (ECA). Its aim is professional cooperation and the provision of the principle of independence in line with the 1977 Lima and the 2007 Mexico Declarations. The Congress is the supreme body of the EUROSAI, which meets every three years, and EUROSAI is run by the Governing Board consisting of four fully fledged and four elected members, and the Secretariat.
The State Audit Office is actively represented in the following EUROSAI working groups:
- IT audit working group (ITWG)
- Environmental Auditing working group (WGEA)
- Audit of Funds Allocated to Disasters and Catastrophes working group (WGAFADC)
- Task Force on Municipality Audit (TFMA)
- Ethics Network
In 2012, Georgia hosted the EUROSAI-OLACEFS VII Conference followed by the Tbilisi Statement reflecting the importance of international cooperation for public financial managmeent. The SAO delegation has regularly attended INCOSAI congresses hosted in 2010 in South Africa, in 2013 in China, and in 2016 in the UAE. At the EUROSAI congresses in Lisbon in 2011, in The Hague in 2014 and in Turkey in 2017, Georgia joined the spirit of independence and professionalism. At the EUROSAI-ASOSAI III joint conference in 2019 in Israel, and at the EUROSAI XI Congress in the Czech Republic attended remotely in 2021, Georgia shared the practice of IT innovation in auditing.
