SIGMA as a joint project of the European Union and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which has been assisting reforms for planning and implementation of partner countries since 1992, strengthened institutional capacity of the State Audit Office and provided continuous reforms in line with international and EU external audit standards and practices. Ultimately, SIGMA helped the SAO to become an independent and modern supreme audit institution.
Project outcomes:
- Public External Audit Training Program was developed, which facilitated implementation of the Public Sector Auditing Certificate Program provided by the LEPL Public Audit Institute (PAI).
- Cooperation between the SAO and the Parliament have deepened.
- Financial audit manual was developed.
