The State Audit Office (SAO) has started cooperation meetings with the Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA).
Bilateral cooperation between the supreme audit institutions of the two countries aims to showcase best practices and experiences. The Turkish Supreme Audit Institution has extensive experience in auditing state-owned enterprises (SOE). On the other hand, the Georgian side introduced the practices of conducting international audits to the Turkish colleagues.
The auditors reviewed the practices and audit approaches used by the two countries’ supreme audit institutions in day-to-day activities, international audits, and how international standards have been adapted to the needs of the country. Expert knowledge and recommendations sharing meeting is planned to be convened on performance audit over next year.
On the basis of professional cooperation, readiness has been expressed to launch a new format of cooperation in the near future and to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The professional cooperation of the Supreme Audit Institution with the Turkish side facilitates sharing of experience in the region.
From the side of the Turkish Court of Account, the meetings were attended by Mr Kutlu Karaca - Principal Auditor, State Economic Enterprises Audit Group, Ms Çiğdem Özbey - Principal Auditor, Ministries and Agencies Audit Group, Mr Murat İnce - Principal Auditor, and Mr Ferhat Aksoy - Lead Auditor, Professional Development Group, and Mr Mehmet Balioğlu, Principal Auditor, International Relations Department.
The State Audit Office of Georgia, was represented by Deputy Ms Salome Saneblidze - Head of Economic Activities Audit Department, Ms Tekla Oniani - Leading Auditor, Ms Mariam Zaalishvili - Deputy Head of Social Issues Audit Department, Ms Mariam Cholokava - Leading Auditor, Ms Nino Kereselidze - Head of the International and Donor Relations Division.
