Within the scope of the „Cooperation of the State Audit Office and Municipalities for Improving Public Administration“ project, a working meeting with the municipalities of the Kakheti region was conducted in Telavi.
With the support of the USAID Local Self-Governance Program, in a working setting with the municipalities, the State Audit Office discusses the recommendations follow-up process conducted in the Municipalities and the issues related to the effective public finances management.
The first meeting was convened with the participation of about 50 representatives from 7 municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region.
More than 50 representatives from the municipalities of Kvareli, Telavi, Gurjaani, Lagodekhi, Sighnaghi, Sagarejo, Akhmeta, and Dedoplistskaro attended the meeting in Telavi.
The work process was moderated by Zaza Shekiladze, Deputy Auditor General of the State Audit Office. Giorgi Mamrikishvili, Head of the Self-Government Entities Audit Department, presented the main results and recommendations of the audits conducted in Municipalities. Tsotne Karkashadze, Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department introduced the Audit Recommendation Implementation System (aris.sao.ge) to the representatives of municipalities. Giorgi Mamrikishvili and Giuli Chkuaseli, Head of the Public Internal Control Department of the Ministry of Finance, discussed the role of the Sakrebulos and internal audits in the process of oversight the public finances management. Gela Tsiklauri, Director of the Public Audit Institute, presented professional development training programs tailored to the needs of municipalities.
During the interactive meeting the representatives of the SAO answered the questions of the representatives of municipalities and Sakrebulos, and also covered the ways of joint solutions to the recommendations.
