The SAO of Georgia, as a member of the Assembly of SAIs of the Candidate and Potential Countries for EU Membership, has joined a new international cooperation related to the audit of the defense and security sector.
The first working meeting of the Joint Working Group on Audit Activities (JWGAA), established within the framework of the Assembly, was held in Montenegro, with the participation of auditors from the SAIs of Sweden, North Macedonia and Georgia.
The working group is led by the Swedish SAI, which supports member organizations in the areas of financial and performance auditing, quality management and communications in defense and security sector.
The purpose of the meeting was to share the experiences, approaches, challenges and specific issues of the audit institutions of the participating countries in relation to the audit of financial statements in the defense sector.
Representatives of the SAO shared with their colleagues practices related to financial audit in the defense and security sector.
At the meeting, the SAO was represented by Giorgi Khitarishvili, Deputy Head of the Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department, and auditors Natia Tepnadze and Ilia Kozhoridze.
