Auditor General of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Gabitashvili, presented the 2024 Annual Report of the State Audit Office to the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.
The report submitted to the Parliament covers all key areas of the SAO activities. It highlights the results of financial, compliance, and performance audits; the implementation status of recommendations; cooperation with the Parliament; participation in international professional organizations; professional development of staff; results of the financial audit of the Office, and other significant matters.
According to the report, in 2024, the SAO conducted 58 audits, covering 91% of the consolidated budget for over GEL 23 billion. These included 13 financial audits, 29 compliance audits, and 16 performance audits.
Due to the high-risk circumstances, the corresponding materials of 14 audit reports were sent to the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia for further response.
Over the past five years, the SAO has issued over 3,000 recommendations, 20% of which relate to audits conducted in 2024. Of the total recommendations, 74% have been fully or partially implemented, 18% are in progress, while 8% remain unimplemented.
Following the presentation, the Auditor General answered the questions of the members of the Budget and Finance Committee.
