Anti-corruption meeting of interagency coordination council 10 July, 2015

On July 10, 13th anti-corruption meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council took place in the “Radisson Blue Iveria” hotel. The meeting was attended by the high-ranking officials of the Georgia’s executive, legislative and judicial governments, representatives of non-governmental and international organizations as well as business sector.

Main goal of the meeting was the assessment of the progress implementation of the 2015-2016 national anti-corruption plan prepared on the basis of the report of the anti-corruption council’s secretariat.   The report includes the information about the results and details of the implementation process of the carried out anti-corruption activities performed by the responsible agencies in January-February 2015 and also the information regarding what kind success and challenges the country has faced in the reduction/eradication of the corruption. 

The report was prepared according to the information received from the state agencies (including the State Audit Office) and on the basis of the opinion of non-governmental organizations. 

As a result of the assessment of the anti-corruption council’s secretariat, it was revealed that during the first 6 months of 2015, the significant progress was achieved by the responsible agencies in the anti-corruption direction. In particular, 123 goals of 199 envisaged in the action plan were fully reached and 41 goals partially. 

It should be noted that the State Audit Office is presented in the Anti-Corruption Council in two thematic working groups:

  1. Prevention of corruption in public finances and state procurement spheres;
  2. Prevention of political corruption.

Within the framework of the anti-corruption 2015-2016 action plan, the council considered 13 goals of 17 were fully completed, 3 – partially and 1 unfulfilled.
