Today, on September 9, the closing conference within the framework of the state bodies TWINNING project “Institutional strengthening of the Supreme Audit Institution of Georgia – the State Audit Office” was held in the State Audit Office.
The main goal of the project was to strengthen leadership and technical capabilities of the State Audit Office according to the EU audits as well as international standards and methodologies. Leading experts from Germany and Poland, who was supporting Georgian colleagues in formation of professional and transparent structure, introducing modern management systems and optimization and standardization of audit mechanisms were involved in the project. In addition, experts ensured support of the professional development and working assessment of auditors.
The project provided assistance within the framework of the ENPI, which supports the development of democracy, supremacy of law and efficient management.
Twinning project is a cooperation tool between the EU and beneficiary countries. Its goal is sharing of EU good practice with state bodies of beneficiary countries and promoting of long-term relations with them. Beneficiary countries are EU membership candidate countries and potential candidate states as well as countries within European Neighbourhood Policy.
The project was implemented by the Supreme Audit Institution of Germany - Bundesrechnungshof (BRH) and Supreme Audit Institution of Poland - Najwyższa Izba Kontroli (NIK) in cooperation with the State Audit Office of Georgia (SAO).
