„Impartial, transparent and fair“ – U.S. Department of State about State Audit Office 06 March, 2017

U.S. Department of State issued a report about Georgia and highly rated the activity of the State Audit Office in term of the monitoring of political finances.

Report notes that according to the „Transparency International“ finding,  during 2016 parliamentary elections, activity of the State Audit Office were “impartial, transparent and fair.”    

Report of the U.S. Department of State emphasizes those legal approaches, highly professional values and principles of publicity, which were revealed by the State Audit Office in 2016 parliamentary elections monitoring process.

“The State Audit Office monitored the legality and transparency of political financing for the 2016 parliamentary elections and reviewed 1,016 election donations by individuals and 84 by legal entities. The State Audit Office summoned 120 donors for questioning and fined eight for illegal donations. The State Audit Office reported political parties received 2,464 donations during the election period totaling $13 million. Georgian Dream received 65 percent of the total donations,” is said in the report of the U.S. Department of State.
