Session of the Parliamentary Working Group reviewing reports of the State Audit Office 20 June, 2017

Today, on June 20, Head of the audit team of the General State Services Audit Department of the State Audit Office Nana Vachadze presented performance audit report on the development of popular sport at the session of the parliamentary working group reviewing SAO’s reports.According to speaker, auditees of the performance audit were Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and municipalities of Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi and Poti. The report includes 2014-2016, where the current situation of popular sports is presented.

It was noted that implementation of international and local researches, on the basis of which sport environment in Georgia, level of population’s participation in the physical activities, sports infrastructure and educational sphere were studied. As a result of researches, gaps in popular sports, such as small number of people’s participation in sport activities and lack of interest were revealed.


For eradication of gaps identified in this direction, the SAO issued four recommendations at the session which were taken into account by the relevant ministries.
