The State Audit Office (SAO) of Georgia will be sharing its experience with the participant SAIs of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) project "Global SAI Accountability Initiative (GSAI)" that are keen to implement international standards.
The SAO, as an active member of INTOSAI/EUROSAI working groups and a good practice example of institutional development for other SAIs, will help SAIs to develop.
Mariam Zaalishvili, Head of the Social Sector Audit Department, and Tsotne Karkashadze, Head of the State Budget and Strategic Analysis Department, at the invitation of IDI, introduced the audit standards and practices implemented at the SAO Georgia to the Supreme Audit Institution of Tajikistan. In particular, the representatives of the SAO shared with their colleagues the process of institutional development of the SAO, strategic directions and their experience on the following issues: a risk-based audit planning; performance audit; techniques for working in the audit management system (AMS); communication with the parliament and the practice of reviewing audit reports; the process of recommendations monitoring and the electronic monitoring platform - ARIS.
On the part of the SAI of Tajikistan, the Deputy Auditor General, members of the Board, heads of audit departments and auditors attended the working meetings. IDI representatives moderated training sessions.
The SAO of Georgia, in the next stage of cooperation, will provide mentorship to the SAI of Tajikistan on issues and challenges selected by them.
