Web-platform of the State Audit Office – “Budget Monitor” -- in the limelight of the British Guardian 31 July, 2017

The British “Guardian”, in the article published on July 21 names the web-platform of State Audit Office - "Budget Monitor" (www.budgetmonitor.ge) among the most active initiatives of citizen’ participation in the open management and governance implementation all over the world.

“In Georgia, citizens are actively encouraged to participate in annual audits of various government agencies, and vote to allocate public funds towards the programmes/services that matter most to them including education, infrastructure and healthcare, by using the “citizen” tab of the new Budget Monitor platform developed by the Georgian State Audit Office,” is said in the article.

“We urge citizens to use the platform to provide feedback on the deficiencies in budget resource management, to participate in the preparation of the audit annual plan and share the information on their corrupt risks to help to eliminate them, " says the State Audit Office.

Besides the citizens’ participation opportunities, the web platform - "Budget Monitor" gives stakeholders a unique opportunity to select an interesting area and instantly get constantly updated and reliable information about the public revenues, expenses, debt, infrastructure projects, the program budget, procurement and the deficiencies revealed as a result of audits and issued recommendations and etc.

Budget monitors are fixed in the Georgian Parliament and State Audit Office, while the platform is publicly available on the website www.budgetmonitor.ge
